The most popular destinations for groups
Ten arguments to convince your friends to travel by train
1. Travelling by train is cheap
Contrary to popular belief, travelling by train is not only good for the environment, but also good for your wallet. A group journey from Switzerland to Berlin or Amsterdam is available for as little as CHF 40 per person. The price also includes a seat reservation so that everyone can sit together. Check our travel destinations for approximate ticket prices.
2. Travelling by train is comfortable
Whether youâre travelling in a two, four or sixâseater compartment, thereâs plenty of room on the train to stretch your legs. There is also a table and power sockets in almost every long-distance train so that you can take care of urgent to-dos while travelling. In addition, there is no need for tedious stops for urgent toilet or catering needs.
3. The train takes you directly to the city centre
No additional shuttle bus, no taxi: the train takes you to the heart of the city at most stations. Your discovery tour of your destination begins as soon as the train door opens.
4. Travelling by train is faster than you think
Travelling by train takes much longer than a flight? That may be true if you only consider the time in the air. However, the journey to the airport, check-in time and any security buffers are often forgotten. This adds several hours to the flight time, which are less pleasant than travelling along Lago di Lugano in the Eurocity.
5. Simply get on board and set off
In contrast to plane journeys, train journeys very rarely include a check-in or security check. This means you donât have to be at the station several hours in advance but can enjoy your favourite destination right up to the last minute.
6. Experience the country and its people
Public transport not only brings you closer to the centre of your destination, but also closer to the everyday life of the locals. This often leads to interesting conversations or observations. There are also culinary specialities to try in the dining car before you arrive.
7. The journey is the destination
Travelling by train is an experience in itself. You see how the landscape slowly changes, and the excitement for the vacation lasts the whole journey.
8. Travelling by train is good for the climate
Travelling doesnât have to leave you with a guilty feeling. Travelling by train consumes around 30 times less CO2 than travelling by plane. Canât imagine what that means? Then perhaps the following comparison will help you: travelling to Amsterdam by train instead of by plane has the same impact on the climate as not eating meat for six months.
9. Trains go everywhere
The nearest airport is 200 kilometres away from your accommodation? Then a plane will only help in very few cases. There are over 40,000 railway stations in Europe, and we can book your group trip to any of them!
10. Train journeys will be remembered
At least in our experience. Airports look the same all over the world while almost every long train journey offers unforgettable experiences. Marius will never forget his night train journey from the metropolis of London to the Scottish Highlands any more, and Linus will always remember his 400-bucks photo on the ferry to Greece. You can find these and other such stories on our blog (in German).
