Tips and tricks for planning your holiday
January is the month for holiday planning! Here’s our advice to make sure your travel plans become reality.
Plan early, but not too early
The earlier you book, the cheaper the ticket in most cases. However, the advance booking period for international trains varies greatly. Tickets are available at the earliest six months before departure. Depending on the country, the deadline is as little as two to four months. We therefore recommend you to plan early, but remain flexible within your travel wishes.
Have your travel details ready
Train tickets are always personalised and non-transferable. It is therefore important to know in advance who is travelling when. This is the only way we can make you a tailored offer.
Know your approximate itinerary
Especially for longer trips, for example to Scandinavia, the possibilities for itineraries are almost endless. You can find overview maps for many destinations on our website. Find out about your preferred travel route before making an enquiry so that we can advise you quickly and tailored to your needs.

SimpleTrain is a young start-up from Zurich with the goal of convincing people in Switzerland to travel sustainably. We specialize in train travel across Europe and ensure that your next train journey is as affordable and comfortable as possible.
What are the advantages of buying tickets with SimpleTrain?
Popular booking portals are often quite complicated. We want to simplify this and offer an easy-to-understand booking platform. By processing your request personally, we find an offer that is tailored to you, and our knowledge of the various fares means you get the cheapest ticket for your train journey.
What connections are available on SimpleTrain?
SimpleTrain offers train tickets to any location that can be reached by land from Switzerland. If there is no train to the desired destination, we also search for suitable bus and ferry connections.
